Laura Hartenstein-Matella

Laura is the heart behind The Puppy Parlor. With over 20 years of professional grooming experience, she believes that grooming is not about achieving the “perfect cut” — it’s about protecting a dog’s physical and emotional well-being.
Laura began her career as an apprentice, determined to learn every detail of the craft from the ground up. Her mentors quickly recognized her natural talent and entered her into the Rising Star Grooming Competition in 2005. Soon after, she was entrusted with taking over their grooming business, which she successfully owned and operated for four years.
After that chapter, Laura followed a different kind of calling — hiking the Appalachian Trail. Time spent immersed in nature deepened her patience, awareness, and calm presence — qualities that now shape her work with dogs every day. She believes dogs are deeply sensitive to human energy, and she intentionally creates a grounded, low-stress environment for both pets and people.
Laura went on to earn her National Certified Groomer (NCG) credentials in all breeds through the National Dog Groomers Association of America, further strengthening her commitment to skill, safety, and continued growth.
As the owner of The Puppy Parlor, Laura leads with honesty, respect, and compassion. She has built a salon culture centered on communication, professionalism, and putting each dog’s comfort first. Her mission is simple: every dog leaves feeling safe, cared for, and understood.

Andrew Matella

Andrew is the friendly voice on the phone and the warm welcome at the front desk of The Puppy Parlor. As co-owner alongside his wife, Laura, he helps create the calm, respectful environment that defines the salon’s experience.
He keeps the day running smoothly by managing scheduling, answering client questions, and ensuring every check-in and checkout feels easy and welcoming. Andrew believes that a positive visit begins the moment clients walk through the door, and he takes pride in making both pets and their people feel comfortable and cared for.
With a lifelong love of animals, Andrew has a natural way with dogs — they seem to sense his steady, kind energy right away. In addition to running the front desk, he supports the grooming team with bathing and drying when needed, stepping in wherever he can to help the day flow seamlessly.
Together, Laura and Andrew have built The Puppy Parlor around shared values of teamwork, honesty, and putting each dog’s well-being first.

Baylee
With 10+ years of grooming experience, Baylee brings both skill and heart to every appointment. Having grown up in a grooming salon, working with dogs feels like second nature — they’ve always been her best friends.
She believes dogs are truly good for the soul and takes pride in helping each one look their best while feeling comfortable and cared for. There’s nothing better than seeing a happy pup leave fresh, fluffy, and confident.
Outside of the salon, Baylee loves fishing and spending time outdoors with her two children and her loyal sidekicks, Lilo and Stitch.
